Guidelines for Posting Events

We welcome submissions from all community-minded organizations, groups, and individuals! To ensure the calendar remains helpful, inclusive, and informative for everyone, please follow these posting guidelines:

Submission Policy
The goal of the Rutherford Connect Community Calendar is to highlight events that are open, inclusive, and contribute to a healthy, lawful, and welcoming civic life in Rutherford County, and we welcome event submissions from community-minded organizations, groups, and individuals.

What can be submitted
The calendar is intended for public events that take place in Rutherford County or primarily serve its residents. Submissions may come from nonprofits, schools, community groups, religious institutions, local businesses, government agencies, or similar; and should be events related to community enrichment, education, health, wellness, recreation, culture, and civic life, such as festivals, fundraisers, concerts, workshops, support meetings, volunteer opportunities, public forums, and family or seasonal events.

Events listed on the calendar should be open to the public (whether free or ticketed) and presented in good faith as genuine community activities.

What cannot be submitted
The calendar does not accept private or closed events, campaign or partisan political events or rallies (including candidate, party, or ballot-issue promotion), commercial advertising that is not tied to a real public community event, or duplicate listings for recurring activities.

We also do not accept events that promote discrimination, harassment, hate, violence, intimidation, or unlawful activity, or that promote militia groups, paramilitary activity, or other efforts to replace, bypass, or undermine lawful government institutions, courts, or elections.

Submissions must include
All event submissions must include an event name, date and time, location (or virtual link), the name of the host or organizing group, contact information, and a brief, clear description of the event. You may also include a flyer, image, or website link if you wish.

Review and approval
All submissions are reviewed before they are posted. Approval typically takes one to two business days, and we may contact you if we need clarification or edits. We reserve the right to edit submissions for clarity, length, or format, and to decline any submission that does not meet these guidelines or is inconsistent with the purpose of the calendar.

For best results, submit your event at least a week in advance, use clear and straightforward language, include any registration requirements or costs, and note whether the event is kid-friendly, virtual, or recurring.

Requests for review
If you believe your event or organization does not clearly fit within these guidelines but still serves the community in a constructive and good-faith way, you are welcome to contact us and ask for a review before or after submitting. We understand that no policy can anticipate every situation, and we do not want worthwhile community efforts to fall between the cracks. Reaching out does not guarantee approval, but we are happy to take a second look and consider context, purpose, and impact.
